Ray Anchor (HHP)

Manson Anchors took a basic component of every boat, and considerably redesigned it to be not only aesthetically pleasing but a real feature on one of the best yachts in the world. This is a real skill and shows again New Zealanders’ ability to create a design that not only solves a problem but does so very eloquently indeed

The anchor preformed perfectly when used in sand, rock, mud, or mixed bottom types. I have anchored in inlets with 3 knot tide waters and in over 120ft of water with 4 foot + seas in my 21ft boat and the anchor did not move. I also want to state that the design makes it easy to retrieve. You can’t go wrong with this on your boat!

We have recently returned from a five month cruise of Stewart Island and Fiordland and not once did our 50lb Manson Plough Anchor let us down. We even spent a night anchored off Nugget Point on the east coast of Southland with winds in excess of 70 knots and whilst we did maintain an anchor watch all night it was not needed as we did not move an inch.
I was concerned that perhaps the 50lb may have been a bit light for my yacht which is 41 feet and weighs 17 tons, but after that trip plus a Marlborough Sounds trip before that, I confess I am totally sold on your anchors and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I have toured the Manson factory on many occasions and have witnesses first-hand the quality of workmanship in full swing. The attention to detail they take in the selection of the metals, fabrication processes, welding and casting is amazing. Any vessel I own will always be fitted with a Manson Anchor.

I would firstly like to thank you all at Manson for offering the most accommodating service possible. To have actually delivered my new stainless anchor to the boat by tender was fantastic.

More importantly though was the job my new stainless Plough anchor is doing. Having had serious problems with my Delta holding in your Bay of Islands and in the fine corals of the South Pacific (we actually dragged causing serious damage). We were using the Lewmar recommended size anchor and chain which we always felt was slightly on the light side but were told it was adequate for the job. We are a low windage, light displacement cat of over 50 feet and cruise extensively.

You immediately recognized the weight/size inadequacy of what was previously installed on “Squid” and gave me the correct type and size anchor I needed. Since using my Manson Stainless Plough I have had no troubles whatsoever. In fact, I hardly think I will. We nearly fall over backwards when it digs in…, we aren’t going anywhere!!
